Beach Idyll
Beach Idyll
An idyllic sunset moment near Port Dalhousie. I wander with my camera as the sun settles into the Niagara Escarpment. It, and the red sky, would form a glowing backdrop to a photograph. But what would I place in the foreground?
The reflective water? The contrasting dark beach? An attentive father teaching his child to swim. A self-involved jogger splashing through the shallows? A boater pulling up the anchor, ready to depart? Friends chatting on the beach? An athlete attempting a handstand on her surfboard?
Or all these silhouettes, the simultaneous variety of experiences made possible by our Mother Earth on this hot summer’s night.
(All of those delights are captured in one marvelous click. But of course I had to make more than 50 exposures this evening, until this one perfect image emerged.)
