An afternoon walk downtown brought us face to face with this single coyote. Looking utterly miserable, it stood uncertainly in a laneway behind some houses.

They say, watch out, that coyotes in the city can be dangerous to people. After this encounter, I’d venture the opposite. We’ve encroached on their territory, left inviting food lying around, and a few animals like this one have ended up trapped alone in a hostile environment, shunned as the enemy.

Beside it, ironically, a cooker to supply our human “needs”.
